Diane holds degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry and it a Certified Board Director. She has over 30 years of experience in progressive leadership positions in manufacturing.
Why are you Involved? Diane’s current business model is highly aligned to this initiative as she pairs mentors with new graduates helping them to accelerate their career journey. The majority of her mentors and mentees are women.
What do you see as the benefits of FemSTEAMPTBO? In a community like Peterborough, everyone is willing to help, and no opportunity is more than one phone call away. It just makes sense to combine “supply and demand” goals.
Any other fun fact: Diane was the first female is just about every position she held and did so while raising 4 wonderful children.

The Innovation Cluster – Peterborough and the Kawarthas is a fully-funded not-for-profit innovation and technology incubator. The Innovation Cluster operates the only two full-service incubators in the region located in downtown Peterborough and the City of Kawartha Lakes. Supporting determined, innovative entrepreneurs in the formation and growth of their technology-driven companies is key to the organization.
Focusing on four key sectors: clean technology, agriculture technology, healthcare and digital technology, the Innovation Cluster’s dynamic programming ensures that startups find their best path to market. Collaborating with FemSteamPtbo is extremely important to the mission of the Innovation Cluster, as we share the value of inspiring the founders of the future!

Why are you involved?
Kawartha Pine Ridge DSB is committed to supporting students in their exploration of a variety of pathways that can be accessed through college, apprenticeship, university or the workplace. As outlined in our updated Strategic Plan for 2019-2022, we actively engage in community partnerships in order for students to be connected to local opportunities, and for education to reflect the needs of our community. It is our goal to inspire students to excel in learning, succeed in life and enrich our communities. In particular, we are committed to supporting initiatives and programs that close gaps in the workforce.
What do you see as the benefits of FemSTEAMPTBO?
The connections we have made through #FemSTEAMPtbo have created opportunities to expose our female students to a wide variety of careers and opportunities in STEAM in our area. There have been inspirational events, such as the #FemSTEAMPtbo launch with Roberta Bondar at Fleming in the fall, but there have also been smaller meetings that have led to creative projects between schools and community partners, such as the intermediate bird house project. These connections are integral to ensuring that experiences are embedded in education and that students have repeated exposure to the plethora of opportunities in their own back yard.
